Keywords Lecture ‘out’ with Suely Rolnik

Cultural critic, curator and psychoanalyst Rolnik talks on keyword 'out', focussing her concept 'Out in the Open', conceived for the Sao Paulo biennial

In this lecture psychoanalyst, cultural critic and curator Suely Rolnik will present her concept Out in the Open, conceived for the Sao Paulo biennial. She is known internationally and is participating in Documenta 13 this summer. In this event Rolnik will be interviewed by Isobel Whitelegg, Director MA Curating at Chelsea College of Art & Design.

Suely Rolnik is professor at the Catholic University of São Paulo, where she founded in 1982 the Subjectivity Studies Centre in the Clinical Psychology Doctoral Program. Since 2008, she is guest professor of the Programa de Estudios Independientes, MACBA. With Félix Guattari, she is author of Micropolítica. Cartografias do desejo (1986), published in five languages. She has published numerous essays in books, journals, and art catalogs in Europe and the Americas, and has lectured widely.

Keywords takes its title from Raymond Williams’ seminal book ‘Keywords: a Vocabulary of Culture and Society’ first published in 1976, which looks at how the meaning of words change as the context in which they are used changes around them.
