Lu Chunsheng and Jia Aili discuss new and recent work

Artists Lu Chunsheng and Jia Aili discuss recent projects and new work showing in the exhibition and film programme Counterpoints. The event is chaired by Katie Hill, Senior Lecturer in contemporary Chinese art at the University of Westminster and translated by filmmaker Tianqi Yu.

Lu Chunsheng shows his film, The first man who bought a juicer bought it not for drinking juice, for the first time in Europe. He has previously exhibited in the UK in the Serpentine Gallery’s exhibition of contemporary Chinese art at Battersea Power Station.

This is also the first solo exhibition in Europe, Make Believe…, by emerging artist Jia Aili.

Both artists are drawn to subjects of industrial progress, social corrosion and the individual’s struggle in the machine age.
