About

Esther Polak lives and works in Amsterdam. She holds degrees from the Royal Academy for Visual Arts, Den Haag, Netherlands and State Academy for Visual Arts, Amsterdam, Netherlands.

She has received the Nomination Cinekid New Media Award (2009), Golden Nica Interactive Art, Linz, Austria (2005), Gada Balva Prix, Riga, Letland (2004) and Nomination Open Doors Design Grant Prix, Amsterdam (2002).

In 2009, she was an artist in residence at NIMk (Dutch Institute for Media Art) Amsterdam, Netherlands. The same year she was a tutor at Geo Tales workshop, Imal, NewBraveWorld Masterclasses, Brussels (2009). She was also a participant masterclass Mediafonds@Sandberg, Amsterdam (2010).

Her exhibitions include NomadicMILK (lecture/performance), Bayero University Kano, Kano, Nigeria (2009), Transmediale (NomadicMILK Nigerian version), Berlin (2009), Spiral Drawing Sunrise, Medialab-Prado, Madrid (2008), Ars Electronica (MILKproject-installation), Cyber Space, Golden Nica Award, Linz (2005), Presentation MILKproject, ZKM Making Things Public, Karlsruhe (2005), and AmsterdamREALTIME, diary in traces, Municipal Argive, Amsterdam (2002).
