Meena Menon is currently Senior Associate, Focus on the Global South, India and Coordinator of the India office for an Asian policy research think tank, engaged in research and advocacy. She is also active with the Girni Kamgar Sangharsh Samiti and Rojgar Hakka Samiti- organisations working in the textile area in Mumbai. She has been an activist for 33 years.

She studied at Osmania University, Andhra Pradesh and also has a human rights diploma course from the Institute of Social Studies, The Hague, (1998). Menon was visiting Fellow, Wolfson College, Cambridge University, UK, 2003.

Menon works on regional, national and local issues; and is active in the network of Peoples SAARC, the World Social Forum process (global, regional and national processes), various peace networks, and urban development issues ie. Sustainable Cities.

Publications: Along with a co-author, book titled One Hundred Years, One Hundred Voices- the mill workers of Girangaon- an oral history (Seagull Books, 2004, in Marathi by Mauj Prakashan, 2007). Marathi book won two state awards and in English was also shortlisted for two national awards.
