Sutapa Biswas has, over the past two decades, created an intensely evocative and challenging body of work that engages with feminism and cultural identity.
The Birdsong limited edition is a still from her two-screen film tableaux of the same title in which a horse is viewed in a domestic interior, standing motionless. Seen through the eyes of a child - whose dream it is to have a horse living in his house - this piece addresses the impossible reconciliation between dream, desire and reality.
