"Growing up in South America, London was a dream only imagined through postcards. When I first arrived, it was not love at first sight: the city grew on me. I discovered the obvious places and then the hidden ones. Most of all, I discovered its people and its diversity of cultures.  I am curious to know how other people perceive the city so we are inviting people to compose their own ideal postcard of London."  Leticia Valverdes

Iniva and Brazilian artist Leticia Valverdes invite you to a special photographic studio at new contemporary visual arts space Rivington Place - during the London is the Place for Me exhibition. A contemporary version of the famous Harry Jacobs studio in Brixton where thousands of newly-arrived immigrants to the UK had their pictures taken in the 1950s - 1980s, this project documents the aspirations of arrivals to London.

The project Is London The Place for Me? is open to individuals and groups of all ages and backgrounds. Choose between different backdrops and props to explore how you want to be seen in London and how you want to present your London life to loved ones elsewhere.  Your photograph can be instantly printed in the studio as a postcard - which can be kept as a memento or sent to family and friends.  An exhibition in the studio will also feature the finished postcards and will evolve and expand as the project progresses, ultimately creating a collective snap shot of people's perspectives and dreams of London.
