This summer inIVA will bring a deliciously fun mixture of ice-cream, art and music to East London with Candy Pop & Juicy Lucy on Tour a new participatory art project and exhibition, toured in an ice-cream van.

The project by artist Chila Burman, culminates with a Summer Ice-cream Party open to all on 18 August, when the ice-cream van will be driven to inIVA and Autograph ABP's new arts venue Rivington Place. Inside the van a soundtrack mix of rap, reggae, bhangra and bollywood music, will create a sensuous and fun environment for visitors to view Burman's mixed-media artwork whilst participating in family workshops and enjoying free ice-cream, served from the hatch throughout the day.

Artist Chila Burman's Punjabi father sold ice-creams in Liverpool and she was the envy of her schoolmates, helping herself to soft scoop and Flakes every day of the week. Over the last few years she has revamped his ice-cream van as a vehicle for displaying and touring her work. Her seductive paintings, collages, photographs and sculptures made from an array of ice-lollies and cornets celebrate personal and collective histories while challenging social and political stereotypes, in particular media stereotypes of Asian women.

Candy Pop & Juicy Lucy on Tour will include three weeks of workshops for young Hackney residents held in a specially designed tent erected alongside Burman's ice-cream van from 23 July-10 August 2007. Their works will be exhibited at the Summer Ice-cream Party.
