Scope

The archive contains a wide range of material documenting the work of contemporary artists practising in Britain of African-Caribbean, Asian and African descent.  The collection was established in 1985, and has links with the Institute of International Visual Arts (Iniva), AAVAA Online hosted by Diversity Art Forum formerly the African and Asian Visual Artists Archive at the University of East London, and Panchayat, at the University of Westminster.

Reference collection access is by written application only.

Strengths

Items in the archive date from 1970, with a strong coverage of the 1980s. It includes Archive of The Peoples Gallery (1984-87).
