Please note that spaces are limited for this session. Details of readings will follow.

The Fashion and Race Reading Group proposes to open up discussions on how notions of race are perpetuated, appropriated, misunderstood, marginalised, and often silenced, in an industry that is presented as global, diverse, expressive and inclusive. Contextualised via a selection of diverse texts, this session aims to promote an engaged dialogue and rich debate around questions of race and culture, appropriation, diversity and equality within a discourse of fashion studies. The session will include an introduction to the library collections which includes a wide range of material on cultural identity and visual culture and many relevant resources for a critical investigation of fashion and race.
