Stuart Hall Library zine collection launch

An evening of presentations and discussions to explore cultural diversity in the world of zines, self-publishing and artists' books. Thursday 30th September 6:30pm

a selection of zines in the Stuart Hall Library

As part of the expansion of its collections, the Stuart Hall Library is establishing a specialist zines and artist's book collection. This new collection will incorporate a wide range of material with a focus on cultural diversity, race, and identity.

The event will act as a launch for the new collection, providing a space for discussions which will address the history and importance of zines and their relationship with artists' books, visual art and culture. It will establish the Library as a key resource for zine and art communities.

The zine launch event will feature three presentations by current artists and writers in the zine community. The panel of guests include Cazz Blaze, zine maker, writer and social historian, Hamja Ahshan representing the arts collective Other Asias, an artist-led initiative challenging contemporary navigations of Asia; and Storm in a Teacup collective, promoting women in the arts.

We are also asking for zine donations on the evening. If you would like your zine to be added to the new collection in the library then please bring it with you and speak to a member of the library team at the event.

The event is taking place in the Stuart Hall Library, Thursday September 30th 6:30pm.
