Bouchra Khalili lives and works in Paris, France. She studied Cinema at the Sorbonne Nouvelle and Visual Arts at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure d'Arts, Paris-Cergy.
She has received many awards, among which the Louis Lumière Prize (2005), Image/Mouvement Award (2007), VideoBrasil Residency Award (2009) and CulturesFrance Hors les Murs Award (2010) are noteworthy.
In 2009, she was an artist in residence at Artschool Palestine Residency, Ramallah, Palestine. She was also artist in residence the same year at Videobrasil Residency Award, Sao Paulo, Brazil.
Her solo exhibitions include Storytellers, galerieofmarseille, Marseille (2008); Loop Video Art, Barcelona (2008); Focus on Bouchra Khalili, Museum of Modern Art, Salvador do Bahia, Brazil (2007) and Méditerranée, Méditerranées, Caixa Forum of Art, Barcelona (2006). Khalili's group exhibitions include Tarjama/Translation, Queens Museum of Art, New York (2009); El Sur de Nuevo, Reina Sofia National Museum, Madrid (2009); Middle East Channel: Résistances I & II, The Third Guangzhou Triennial, Guangzhou, China (2008) and La Force de l'Art, 1st Triennial of French Contemporary Art, Grand Palais National Gallery, Paris (2007).
