Luís Trinidade is a Lecturer in Portuguese Modern Studies, University of London. He joined Birkbeck in 2007, where he teaches on Portuguese modern culture and twentieth-century history and politics, having previously been Assistant Professor at History Department of the New University of Lisbon.

Research interests: Press and modernism, the relations between journalism (particularly reportage as a literary genre), modernism and cinema in the 1920s. The theoretical definition and periodization of the Portuguese Cultural Revolution, whose manifestations extend from the 1960s to the 1990s, and include: The ideas of defeat, resistance and depoliticization in post-revolutionary culture and politics, New Cinema, Popular music and rock, TV, Americanization in Portuguese culture and Historiography and narrative (especially in the works of Jacques Rancière and Fredric Jameson).
