About

Until 1980, Tim Rollins studied at the University of Maine, at the School of Visual Arts, New York and in the Department of Art Education of New York University. He taught at the New York Marxist School, on the ‘Learning to Read Through the Arts Program’ and at I.S. #52, South Bronx. Rollins is co-founder of the Group Material, founder of K.O.S. (Kids of Survival) and of the Art and Knowledge Workshop, Inc., South Bronx. His achievement is to have developed an art teaching program for students with educational and emotional disabilities. Since 1995 Rollins is Distinguished Visiting Professor at the University of California at Davis and since 1997 at the School of Visual Arts, New York. He lives in New York City.
