Gary Priestnall is an Associate Professor in Geography within the School of Geography, the University of Nottingham. His research interests focus on the use of landscape visualisation, and questions of digital geographic representation in a range of contexts, including virtual and augmented realities, and location-aware mobile devices. Recent projects have included Mapping Performance Culture Nottingham, an AHRC research project with Jo Robinson in English Studies at Nottingham, and manages the Nottingham arm of the Spatial Literacy in Teaching (SPLINT) Centre for Excellence in Teaching and Learning, with colleagues at the University of Leicester and University College London.

He has collaborated with artists including AHRC art/science collaborative fellow Derek Hampson, with whom he produced the interdisciplinary collection Chat Moss (2005), works with the Wordsworth Trust in the production of digital mapping exhibits, and most recently has begun a collaboration with artist Jeremy Gardiner (Birkbeck) on representation of landscape, geology, and industry of the Lake District.
