Doris Ulmann

Doris Ulmann is best known for her portrait photography and her documentation of rural life of the poor in Applachia and the American Deep South. Ulmann's aesthetic reflects an oscillation between love of black folk culture and a desire to render her subjects in a Modern, hence more neutral form.
