Anthony Shelton is a curator, teacher and leading scholar in museology, cultural criticism, and the anthropology of art and aesthetics. He taught at Universities of East Anglia, Sussex and University College London. He was a curator at the British Museum, the Royal Pavillion, Brighton and at the Horniman Museum in London. His particular interest is the indigenous and performative arts of Mexico and South America. Until recently, Shelton was Professor of Social and Cultural Anthropology at the Universidade de Coimbra, Portugal. In 2004 he was appointed Director of The Museum of Anthropology at the University of British Columbia.
