Svetlana and Igor Kopystiansky

Svetlana and her partner Igor Kopystiansky were both born in Russia in the 1950s. Their work addresses the conditions of the construction of meaning in the visual arts. Using text and photography and more recently video, they investigae the contextuality of artistic and art-receptive values. They live in New York and Berlin since the late 1980s. They have shown their work in numerous international exhibitions and were included in Documenta 11.
