Harris Wilson attended Queen's College in Georgetown, Guyana. From 1942 he worked as a government surveyor. He wrote his first poems in the early 1950s and at the end of the decade he moved to London. He wrote short stories and novels in a magical realist style which are now of great interest for discourses on post-colonial identity.
