Marc Garanger

Marc Garanger had already worked as a photographer when, as a soldier during the Algerian War of Independence, he was asked to take identity pictures of Algerian women. These portraits are emotive documents of the violence and the humiliation the women endured, not last through the act of 'un-veiling'.
