Lyn French is the Director of A Space. She has a background in conceptual art (MA Goldsmiths) and further trainings in art therapy and psychoanalytic psychotherapy with state registration in both. She has an on-going interest in applied psychoanalytic theory and in integrated art and art therapy practice. Her studies at the Tavistock Clinic took her into mental health where she worked for 6 years before taking on a role on the original A Space team in 1997. She has written about collaborative art practice including contributing a chapter to the book Art Therapy, Race and Culture (Jessica Kingsley Publishers  2000). In addition to her role at A Space, she is a part-time lecturer on the MSc in Counselling Children and Young People (School  of Psychology, Birkbeck).
