Carlos Capelan was born in Montevideo, Uruguay in 1948. In 1973 he moved to Sweden and is currently living in Moravia, Costa Rica.
Although his conceptual work includes drawings and paintings, his installations are more widely known for their atmospherical impact, constituting an environment in which the viewer is free to wander round and experience notions of displacement.
