Ghada Amer is an Egyptian-born artist who lives and works in New York. She graduated from the Institut des Hautes Etudes en Art Plastique in France in 1991 and has studied at the Beaux-Arts, Nice and the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. Her works appear to be finely drawn, abstract and spontaneous automatist scribbling; on closer inspection, the fragmented lines are lines of figurative embroidery, depicting the female body.
