Svetlana Alpers

Svetlana Alpers is Professor Emerita of the History of Art, University of California, Berkeley. Her books have provoked a disproportionate amount of interest and controversy because of her penchant for confronting difficult and complicated issues. She is the author of 'The Art of Describing' and 'Rembrandt's Enterprise' among other books.
