Yara El-Sherbini collaborates with the Inivators to present Work in Progress a season of playful interventions for Progress Reports: art in an era of diversity.
They ask questions such as ‘what is cultural diversity?', ‘who can be described as culturally diverse?', and ‘whose responsibility is it to ‘manage' identity in the art world?', interrogating the roles of government policy and social realities.
Art Interventions include the staging of a court of law with the cultural sector on trial; the creation of their own version of the popular BBC Question Time programme titled Questionable Times; a specially devised board game installation of 'Guess Who?', and regular updates with news and opinion pieces on their temporary radio station.
Yara El-Sherbini is an artist who straddles live art, video and installation, currently using recognisable formats within contemporary popular culture to playfully explore art and life.
The Inivators (Iniva's youth advisory board) are a group of individuals in the early stages of their creative careers who collaborate with professional artists to realise projects in response to Iniva's public programme.
