David Adjaye in conversation with David A Bailey

David Adjaye, architect of the landmark building Rivington Place, is one of Britain's leading contemporary architects whose work emphasises the experience as much as the function of architecture. David A. Bailey, Senior Curator at Autograph ABP, speaks with Adjaye about his practice and range of influences, from African art and architecture to contemporary art and music. Presented by Autograph ABP and Iniva.

Conversations in the Front Room

Curator Michael McMillan recreates the West Indian Front Room at Iniva to launch the Front Room Project website. Guests are invited to share their stories about arriving and becoming part of London, focusing on the decoration and selection of objects in their living spaces.

Bring an object dear to your heart and have a postcard portrait taken in a front room of your choice using digital backdrops. Artist Leticia Valverdes will be present. Presented by Iniva.

Film Screening: Homecoming

Homecoming presents a selection of short works by artists returning to their birth place to explore the notion of origins. The screening will be followed by a discussion with the artists about the particular challenges of turning these often difficult journeys into artworks. Presented by Iniva.

A night of African music and poetry presented by Africa Beyond

Your host, and performer, on the night will be Zimbabwean poet Sifundo Msebele, who will be joined by Nigerian poet Ebele.

Providing the musical entertainment will be mbira players Linos Wengara Magaya and Tim Lloyd part of the Zimbaremabwe collective.

Alfredo Jaar and Paul Gilroy in conversation

The 21^st century has re-surfaced the question of the rights of the subject and the question of the body in relation to race and representation. These questions have been the central pre-occupations in the work of artist Alfredo Jaar and academic Paul Gilroy. For the first time both will meet and explore the idea of sense of place and home. Presented by Autograph ABP as part of the John La Rose lecture series.
