Eduardo Padilha and his work 'Dark Habits (work in progress)' was the first in a series of 'Artist in Residency at TheSpace@inIVA' during May - June 2000, which culminated in a studio exhibition. The installation combined seemingly incongruous elements such as Jacquard fabric, giant hares and suspended thermos flasks. The included video work using found super-8 film footage was developed during the residency, re-interpreting and manipulating memories, often with disorientating and eerie effect. Another part of the installation formed a collection of press coverage of Brazil's 500-year anniversary.
